all in a day's work

I know I previously promised not to disappear again, but I failed. It's been over a month since that promise, and I have stayed uninspired and unmotivated. I don't really know what finally pushed me. I charged my battery, snapped a few things throughout the day, and I feel as though I have given my creative muscles some much needed stretching. I'm trying, truly trying. I'll be scrambling to catch up with my 365. Fingers crossed that I can actually do this.

tethered capture

I've learned that tethered capture makes self-portraiture a lot easier. I got a longer USB cord in order to successfully experiment and I must say, I think I really enjoy shooting this way. It's something new for me to play around with and I look forward to posting more experiments.

sws: glimpses of me

Untitled

Matt and I agreed what we were getting each other for Valentine's day, which was apparel from our favorite local coffee shop, as well as a book the other person really wanted. He got Collected Stories of Lydia Davis and I got Shooting With Soul. Although we bought and gave our books at the end of January, I didn't want to start to do any exercises until after Valentine's day. Day of, I decided to do the first exercise of the book: Glimpses of you. I read through suggestions and tried them, sure, but I also went beyond that and tried my own "glimpses of me" shots and I really like that the book is basically a jumping off point for me. It's great, considering I'm doing 365 project again this year so my ideas can get a little bit old. I can't wait to explore more of this book and its exercises here. Without further ado, here are a few more:

black and white study

Tired of my yammering yet? I've decided to process my photos in black and white for the rest of the month of September. I have been playing with Stephanie's photo shoot pictures in black and white, as well as obviously the one in my last post, so from this day forward until October 1st, all photos will be in black and white. It'll change how I shoot, for sure. I'm drawn to colors so with the lack of color, it'll be tricky. I'm experimenting, also, with different poses in my self-portraits. I'm almost one hundred photographs away from completing this 365 and I'm so happy to try new things so it's not just the same-old, same-old.

two hundred five.

Untitled

I haven't posted here in just a little bit over a week. First week of August down and this is the first time I've brought the old gal out. I've been busy planning a shoot and shooting an event. Photos will of course get posted here, possibly as soon as tomorrow night. Magic hour shoot tomorrow with a model friend. I. Can't. Wait.
